FM Nkonki Integrated Reporting Awards 15 Aug 2014

The Financial Mail (FM) Corporate Report, released in partnership with Nkonki, celebrates the achievements of both listed entities and State Owned Companies (SOCs) in the area of integrated reporting. With increased global pressure on companies to produce excellent reports that give shareholders a holistic view of their performance, beyond the bottom line, many organisations are still struggling to come to terms with what is expected of them. There are however those who continue to make great strides in complying with King III requirements and the Public Finance Management Act (in the case of SOCs).

When Nkonki launched the Intergrated Reporting Awards in 2010, the results were less than pleasing, with none of the companies acheiving an "A" rating. The performance of SOCs was similarly uninspiring. However, over the years there has been a significant improvement, as both public and listed companies continue to demonstrate that they are taking integrated reporting very seriously.

The latest FM Corporate Report acknowledges SA companies that have excelled in the 2013 Nkonki Top 100 Integrated Reporting Awards and the 2014 Nkonki SOC Integrated Reporting Awards, following a rigorous evaluation process by a team of independent assessors from Australia's Monash University. The companies profiled in this issue include Pretoria Portland Cement, the overall winner in the Top 100 Integrated Reporting Awards, and Eskom, winner in the SOC Integrated Reporting Awards.
