AACC Conference Listed Companies - 29 August 2016

This year Nkonki will be hosting its second annual audit committee conference specifically for listed companies, with the programme director for the day being Power FM’s Andile Khumalo.

This year the keynote speaker is Bernard Agulhas of IRBA, who will speaking about the role of audit committees in strengthening auditor independence, and Dr Len Konar, who will guide audit committees on roles they should play in tough economic times. Sikkie Kajee of the IoDSA will share his thoughts on how audit committee members can enhance their effectiveness given the expanded roles and responsibilities of audit committees.

Dr Ndema of Sasol Limited will speak on the topic: “Providing assurance on compliance to audit committees in challenging economic times,” and Dr Derek Yach of the Vitality Institute will provide delegates with a “Global Update on the Integration of Health Metrics into Integrated Reporting.”

This will be followed by a round table dealing with the topic Contributing to a robust economy during challenging economic times”. The panel will be led by Gardener Rusike, an Associate Director at S&P, and the primary credit analyst for South Africa. He will be joined by Dr Iraj Abedian, one of South Africa’s leading economists and Mbongeni Bhebhe, the CFO of STANLIB.

The last round table discussion will be for Audit Committee Chairs to discuss the topics affecting audit committees, including Cybersecurity, the New Auditor Report, the Audit Quality Indicators, Technical Debt, Globalisation Challenges, etc. Linda de Beer, Babalwa Ngonyama and Andile Sangqu, who have vast experience in chairing listed company audit committees, are confirmed participants in this round table.
