Note from the CEO

Dear...

Nkonki’s more than 20 years of experience in the auditing profession is underscored by many successes that have contributed to widespread improvements in both the quality of South African audits and the reporting standards of public and private companies. Much of this success is thanks to our thought leadership initiatives, notably the Annual Audit Committee Conference (AACC) which takes place from the 20th - 22nd of October 2014 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The Nkonki AACC continues to provide a platform for those who sit on audit committees, as well as others who are involved in the profession in other ways, to share ideas.

Now in its fourth year, the conference has established itself as not only an information sharing platform among peers, but also as a source of practical tools that empower attendees. This year’s theme of “enhancing your oversight intelligence”, could not have come at a better time, as the auditing and accounting professions around the globe continue to experience increased pressure for committee members to account for financial decisions made in their organisations.

Some of the key focus areas for this year’s Nkonki AACC are to provide audit committee members with the latest technical updates, enhance their ability to participate in meetings, and to strengthen their capacity to monitor the finance and internal audit functions of the organisations they serve. To this end, we have put together a dynamic mix of speakers who will drive the various discussions, and share valuable insights over the three days.

Another main highlight of the conference over the years has been the simulated audit committee meetings which give attendees a practical sense of the kinds of issues and challenges that often come up during meetings. This year is no different. At the end of these simulated meetings delegates will be armed with practical lessons that are designed to refresh their approach to the audit function.

I hope to see you there.

Kind Regards,
